Fighting For A Custody Plan That Puts Your Child First

For many parents, one of the most difficult elements of divorce is determining what will happen with their children. Establishing a child custody and parenting plan can be emotionally draining, but we at Beermann Law Group, Ltd, are here to make sure both your rights as a parent and the best interests of your child are protected throughout the process.

Our attorneys have over 40 years of experience helping Lake County parents find amicable, collaborative child custody solutions that best benefit their children. If parents cannot agree, we are always prepared to aggressively fight for our clients’ rights during litigation.

Because going to court can be expensive and time-consuming, we will do everything we can to find the effective solutions you need without going to trial.

Child Custody Vs. Visitation

Child custody (now referred to as “allocation of parental responsibilities” in Illinois) dictates who can make decisions regarding the child’s upbringing. This can include what religion your children follow, what extracurricular activities they are involved in, what school they go to, health care decisions and more. Either one parent will make these decisions or both will have to work together.

Visitation (now referred to as “parenting time” in Illinois) determines the time each parent spends with a child.

When circumstances change (such as when a parent relocates), these terms can be modified by the courts.
